Enriched Air diver course allows you to extend your bottom time. You will learn the safe practices of using Nitrox. Nitrox is normal air with added oxygen content. As you have less exposure to nitrogen during the dive you will have safer dives and you can stay at depth longer. This also add some additional risk factors to diving which this course teaches you to avoid and dive safely within the limits. As enriched air diver you will use oxygen content of up to 40% instead of the 21% in normal air. You also notice that you have reduced fatigue after repetitive dives. You can take advantage of extended no-decompression limits. Individuals more susceptible to DCS benefit from Nitrox as less nitrogen remains in the tissues after dives. Enriched air diver course opens your diving career to more demanding diving and is also prerequisite to all technical diving training.
You will learn about different methods of mixing breathing gases for diving and how they differ and what are their benefits and limitations. You will learn how to analyze you mix prior to the dive and how to log the fill data appropriately, set your computer to the correct mix and mark your cylinder with the necessary information.
This course is very beneficial if you are planning to go on a liveaboard and dive several days in a row.
The theory only training can be done as self study or guided by your instructor. The optional day trip can be done anytime after taking this course and we will also give you the practical guidance on using the oxygen analyzer available on the boat.
