Course prerequisites:

Able to swim, Medically fit for diving, Comfortable in the water

During the first day of the PADI Scuba Diver course, your scuba instructor will ask you to:
Tread or float in water for 10 minutes and swim for 300 meters with mask, fins, and snorkel on in the pool

Minimum age: 10 years

If you are booking two or more people in your group, we will assign a Private scuba diving instructor just for your group over the three days at no extra cost. This is a fantastic way to learn to dive, and we find that people enjoy smaller groups when learning to scuba dive.

If you are a solo traveller and would like a personal instructor for the course, this is an additional 5,000 Thailand Baht. Otherwise, we will join you in a group of other solo travellers to a maximum group size of four students to one instructor.

Scuba diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Anyone, regardless of age, with shortness of breath, blurred vision, or any form of chest pain may need to reconsider diving. Avoid disappointment, download and review the Diver Medical form to ensure you won’t need a physician’s approval to dive before enrolling in a scuba course.

You should be relatively comfortable in the water to enjoy scuba diving although it’s normal to be a little nervous. If you generally feel comfortable in the deep end of a swimming pool you will likely have fun diving.

To experience a beginner dive one-day course, you only need to be comfortable in the water as an instructor will be with you the entire time. To get your Open Water Certification you’ll need to pass a watermanship assessment for scuba diving which in general means you should be able to tread water/ float for 10 minutes and swim 200 meters (or snorkel 300 meters) without stopping. There is no time limit and you can use any swimming strokes that work for you.

We expect no issues but in the unlikely event of injury, it only makes sense to be prepared. Check your current travel insurance covers you for scuba diving activities. Be sure to contact them directly to make sure. If they do not then we recommend DAN Scuba Diving Insurance.

While we may not be able to accommodate every requirement please let us know in advance and we’ll make every effort to ensure there is food available for you. In addition, we can help you store your own food on the trip if necessary.

Absolutely! While some places use amateurs or fresh out of school dive guides, we use local experienced experts. Our concern for your safety is paramount and we take pride in our staff’s experience and professionalism.

The next stage is the PADI  Open Water Diver course which will improve your underwater navigation and buoyancy skills and introduce you to new skills. Plus you’ll be able to dive to deeper depths of 30 meters (100 feet) and see more underwater marine life.
