Diving is a great family activity for ages 10 years old and up. Scuba diving involves shared exercise and fun exploration rather than competition. It also teaches children how important conservation is for marine environments.

Unlike many other sports, children who become certified in scuba can enjoy their hobby for a lifetime since as long as health permits you can dive as long as you’re able! Those over age sixty-five, however, should make sure they’re in good physical condition before diving.

We will always go over all emergency procedures and protocols with you. We plan our dives and dive our plans. All of our equipment goes through rigorous safety checks and frequent maintenance checks. As for diving itself, with training and preparation diving is actually a very safe and relaxing sport. Because in the beginning diving is such a new and unfamiliar experience it can cause a lot of anxiety however you’re always with experienced people and we understand how you feel.

After all, everyone was new once! Gathered data from the U.S., the U.K., Canada, and Japan shows the potential for a fatal accident is only 2-3 per 100,000 dives. Proper planning and preparation mean that your underwater adventure will be an experience you’ll remember forever!

One of the best options is to explore sun shirts and leggings that are nearly sheer but provide excellent protection as there aren’t any 100% safe sunscreens. However, if you’re going to use sunscreen, check to make sure the product is free of oxybenzone and octinoxate. Stream2Sea Sport Sunscreen, Badger Clear Zinc SPF 40, Supergoop! Mineral Sheer Screen, and Raw Love All Natural Mineral Sunscreen (safe even for infants!) are great options.

You should be relatively comfortable in the water to enjoy scuba diving although it’s normal to be a little nervous. If you generally feel comfortable in the deep end of a swimming pool you will likely have fun diving.

To experience a beginner dive one-day course, you only need to be comfortable in the water as an instructor will be with you the entire time. To get your Open Water Certification you’ll need to pass a watermanship assessment for scuba diving which in general means you should be able to tread water/ float for 10 minutes and swim 200 meters (or snorkel 300 meters) without stopping. There is no time limit and you can use any swimming strokes that work for you.

If you are booking two or more people in your group, we will arrange a scuba diving instructor just for your group at no extra cost. If you are a solo traveller and would like a personal instructor for the course, there is a small charge of 4,000 THB. Otherwise, we will arrange for you to be in a group of other solo travellers.

Group size never exceeds 4:1 so you can be sure the instructor will be able to give each person focused attention.

We want to make sure you experience the wonder and beauty of the ocean safely and securely. We make it point to do everything possible to ease the common anxieties of beginning divers. It’s normal to be nervous! We can offer you an adventure of scuba diving in just one day – no certification needed!

This beginner’s experience is perfect if you’re short on time or just want to try out what it’s like to experience the underwater world.  Your instructor will go over some dive theory, teach you some exercises while in shallow water,  and then you’ll get to dive along with your instructor! You won’t be left alone on this trip – we’ll be right by your side! You can go as shallow as you want and as deep as 40 feet – you get to make the call on what you’re comfortable doing.

Absolutely! While some places use amateurs or fresh out of school dive guides, we use local experienced experts. Our concern for your safety is paramount and we take pride in our staff’s experience and professionalism.

While we may not be able to accommodate every requirement please let us know in advance and we’ll make every effort to ensure there is food available for you. In addition, we can help you store your own food on the trip if necessary.

Yes. We expect no issues but in the unlikely event of injury, it only makes sense to be prepared. Check your current travel insurance covers you for scuba diving activities.

Be sure to contact them directly to make sure. If they do not then we recommend DAN Scuba Diving Insurance.

A detailed medical exam before your dive trip will help determine if you’re fit enough for scuba diving. Anyone, regardless of age, with shortness of breath, blurred vision, or any form of chest pain may need to reconsider diving.

The good news is that many times can be made for those with pre-existing conditions to still enjoy the ocean. For example, vision problems can often be handled with a prescription mask.

Talk to your doctor and scuba professional about whether scuba diving is the right water sport for you. Many water sports and snorkelling can be enjoyed by those who are not medically fit for diving.
